Chief of the Gønger Chief of the Gonger
Chief of the Gønger, takes place on the island of Zealand in Denmark during the war with Sweden in 1658-59. It is a story of the Danish underground resistance group working against the Swedish occupation.
From the original novel by Carit Etlar, it was made into a toy theater play by Alfred Jacobsen in 1885, translated into English by Erik Norgaard (after 1959).
The Spy from Elsignor is set in the same period.
